My son had his stem cell transplant 7 days ago he has had 2 platelet infusions and is on a pain pump due to not being able to walk as below the knees on both legs hurt ,back and front. He’s now developed a fever of 39.9. I am very worried. The nurses are contacting the dr but I just wanted to ask if anyone know if this is a “normal” stage of the process?
Thank you in advance
Sorry to hear about your son having such a hard time , I had a bmt nearly 6 years ago I had a few platelet transfusions also very high temperatures
Never had a pain pump
Hopefully the dr will come up with a solution

You’re at the beginning of a very long exhausting journey. He’s young which is brilliant news cos chances are, he’s strong and will make it. My sct was in 2021. But I’m still here. I’m 63.
I practiced ‘self-compassion meditations’ free to download audios from Kristin Neff’s website to keep me strong mentally.
I was in the clinic for 9 months after the sct …and now I’m working voluntarily once a week, yesterday attended my daughter’s degree ceremony. Life’s good.
I’ve been through the works, am still struggling most days… but I’m enjoying life more now than before. Crazy.
Your story will be very different. I met a 60 year old in the corridor of the clinic, he had his sct mid 20’s…going on very strong. You couldn’t tell he’d ever suffered. He was only there for an annual checkup.
Hold on, trust, be kind to yourselves.
Sending kindness,
Helen
